Civil War Days

What beautiful weather we had for Civil War Days at Ferry Plantation House.
Miss Rose and I demonstrated soap making in the 19th century.
Our table was laden with hand dipped beeswax candles, soaps, wool and our new medicinal balms.
While Rose and I knit socks, the ladies of the Spinning Guild spun beautiful roving into yarn.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy held a lovely bake sale and Civil War reenactors set up an authentic camp and demonstrated weaponry of of the era.
Ferry Plantation house is currently conducting an archeological dig. It is fascinating to view the layers of soil, sand, rock and bricks along with the various artifacts they have found on site.
Buttons, shoe leather, pottery shards and medicine bottles were just a few of the many items on display there.
Thank You to Belinda Nash and Ann Henley for including us!
