ruminating....................

As my best friends are all ruminants, it is no small wonder that I spend a vast portion of my day ruminating!
One of the things I find myself ruminatin' on is whether or not I want to share my experiences and feelings here in this place. I have wondered at my ability to do so without waxing too deep or too philosophical.
I'd like to stay "light" yet I have so many people asking me for insight or encouragement that I feel torn between two paths.
I started this blog as a way to let people know about my sewing and our soaps and as a place that current "customers" could go to learn more about what we offer. I also authored it so that when asked, "Do you have a website," I could finally say,"Yes!!!!!"
I think I can maintain that level of service and yet still offer some interesting tidbits in the other direction as well!
So here goes my first attempt...............

I have been asked quite a bit about my wonderful Nubian does and so today I will share a few photos and give some descriptions of their personalities. I think I'd rather talk about chickens. They are so wonderful.....but I digress............
Tasha as I have said many times, is the matriarch of our herd. Matriarch is described as .......

A clan-mother or 'chief' , an autocratic female ruler of a human family, clan, or kinship, or of an animal grouping.
The matriarch is usually the oldest female in an extended family. Her authority over the others, as well as their trust in her, often stems from her knowledge and life skills, especially in the acquisition and distribution of food.

Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't I love to have that said of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have to spend as much time as I can with Tasha and glean all I can.
Tasha is a true leader and a perfect example of a lady. ( I hope no one will be offended here by my feelings regarding "lady likeness") Quiet and unassuming, polite and loving, yet powerful, putting everyone around her in their place (even me!). Everyone cries when I take her away for a hoof trimming or just to give her a break from the others. She loves to spend time alone with me and will rub her head against my chest or skirt endlessly. She will tolerate the children's brushing and grooming and will gladly let them climb all over her. The goat kids as well love to jump upon her back and lay on or up against her. Even in the extreme heat, you will find Tasha's children and grandchildren laying right up against her. (That's Isabel, her daughter, in the photo loving on mama and tiny Gretel in the other picture sporting my handknit baby goat sweater!)
Tasha loves banana peels, lettuce leaves, garden scraps, toast!!!!!!!!!!!! When our garden season is over, we let the goats in to eat all the leaves and vines. What a time they have!!! it's a great way to get everything tidied up for winter!
