Fledglings

This spring we had the pleasure of seeing an abundance of avian families established at our new farm. Everyone's favorite was the nest of bluebirds that set up house on the fencepost. Colin had nailed the lovely wooden box there last winter and we were so thrilled to watch the nest grow and then see the eggs laid day after day until there were five beautiful blue eggs. Miss Deb Martin helped us identify them. It was a bitterswwet day when they flew away!

There are indigo buntings everywhere here. One little babe kept getting caught on our back porch and I was happy to release him back into the crepe myrtle tree.

Gwynneth's favorite was the nest of wrens in the barn. The mama was so worried about her babies as they kept flying down to the ground and into the doggie's waiting path!
