English Smocking

When my first born was four I learned to smock for her and her baby sister. Four girls and two boys later, I am still smocking and developing new patterns and ideas.

Here are some of the many dresses that are currently available. The first photo is a basic square yoke dress smocked with Scottish terriers on Royal Stewart tartan. Keeping with the tartan theme is a foxhunting scene on a blackwatch plaid "big girl" jumper. This is the preferred style for older children and even for the ladies!
The candy cane dress can be constructed with any fabric, of course, but looks crisp and neat in this 100% pima cotton.
Next is a bishop (smocked all the way around the neck) dress in a vintage fabric with a classic design.
The sheep design is seen next on another stewart tartan. This fabric is a heavier weight than the other plaids pictured.
Next in line is a long sleeve bishop style dress in maize calico. It is pictured smocked with a hen and her husband! This pattern is a favorite of my girls who have many feathered friends of their own. The dress is available in an assortment of calicos or you can, of course, provide your own fabric.
The same "chicken"design is pictured above in a 100% cotton chambray jumper with red rick-rack trim. This is a great style as it allows for lots of growth! Simply move the buttons as your child grows. We wear these jumpers year-round with a turtle neck, a blouse or bare-armed depending on the weather!
All styles and designs are beautiful in chambray, denim, fine wale corduroy of every color, every solid broadcloth or gingham color you can think of as well as a variety of calicos and plaids. Calico selections vary depending on what I have in stock. Please e-mail for availability.
At the very bottom of this page, the big girls are pictured wearing both the wrap around jumpers and the bishop style with the sheep design. Often we add a black sheep in the bunch!
Don't forget to "click" on any of the photos for an up-close view................
All clothing is made of the highest quality, natural fabrics, and are french machine sewn. The dresses have deep hems, to allow for growth. The dresses are available in sizes newborn through 14 years. Prices vary. Please e-mail or call for a quote!

I read of your farm and life today in Mary Jane's farm and I admire your courage. I had a sneaky suspicion you homeschooled even before I came to that part. I was delighted to see it was true! Keep up your fine work, as the days go on in this world no doubt your instruction to your children in spiritual matters and other wise will be of great benefit!

Hi! Just received my issue of MaryJane's Farm and read about you - congrats on being featured! I enjoyed the article and learning about you and your family, and your endeavors. Your creations are delightful.

We also keep goats - aren't they the most charming creatures?

Quick question: in the photo of the two older girls berry-picking, can you tell me where you found the red kerchief that the gal on the right is wearing? I would love to purchase one - it is adorable.

Keep up the good work - I look forward to reading more about your daily doings on your blog!
